Working together in 50-minute sessions, I aim to build a sense of trust and confidence between us. As this develops, I will help you verbalize your thoughts and feelings about your life experience, as well as what is happening in the evolving relationship between us. It is a working alliance: my task is to help you realise what you need to do to achieve the desired growth or change.
At the intake session, we will have discussed whether short-term or longer-term help is appropriate, or whether we should agree a set period and then review.
As a qualified DIT practitioner, I offer a particular form of short-term therapy: Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT). Structured around 16 weekly sessions, we work together to uncover a core pattern of how you interact with others that connects with difficult feelings. We look at the significant experiences in your life, including early ones, but always working on the present and setting aims to encourage change.
